CHROME METAL GOST 5905-2004

Chromium is widely used for alloying steels and alloys, giving them heat resistance and corrosion resistance. The addition of chromium to steel reduces grain size, increases hardenability, increases hardness and strength, increases ductility when chromium content is <1%, has little effect on oxidation resistance at high temperatures, and significantly increases strength at high temperatures. In carbon steels, the presence of chromium increases its hardness and wear resistance. Chromium-alloyed cast irons are widely used. Heat-resistant steels and alloys containing 13-60% Cr are used for the manufacture of parts for gas turbines and jet engines. Chrome plating of metal products, i.e. electrochemical coating with a thin chromium film, significantly increases their resistance and service life.
